Airplane Cast.
Thoughts for the day…and this is an airplane cast.
- Greetings and salutations, people. Thanks for coming aboard (the boat). The plane. Let’s move.
- Not writing a novel today, although I did miss the post Super Bowl day, so a little more work to do. I want to grab a little shuteye for remainder of the flight. Let’s get the work done though.
- I almost had a heart attack today. Forgot my new Google Doc system requires Wifi. Note to self. ALWAYS copy and paste the blog ideas before getting on a flight. Got lucky today.
- Exit row with a seat open next to me. Like Old Milwaukee in the 80’s, it doesn’t get any better than this.
- Security lines were a breeze also…to the point I wish I would have slept for 20 more minutes.
- So, let me get this straight. Divac comes out about how DeMarcus Cousins is going nowhere, and then the game right after he pushes a player during a game? Man, dude can fill a stat sheet, but Vlade better get him help quickly or that dude will REALLY lose it on the court.
- Under a DIFFERENT regime, Baylor had a football coach busted in a PROSTITUTION ring. What goes on down in Waco? Baylor has a muddled version of the chicken and the egg. Stay with me here. From what I know, Baptists prefer girls to be virgins until marriage. So, a girl goes to a Baptist college. Then, the football team gets big, bad and tough, and at the same time has coaches look the other way on these assaults. And probably the reason none of these came out sooner was because the girl was probably too scared to admit she was involved in sexual activities before marriage, against her will or not. Just saying it is such an ODD place for this crap to happen and that getting bigger football players didn’t help things. Scary stuff.
- I get that the Boston Bruins are old school. I get they expect championships. But, in an age of not exactly lighting it up with titles, I am very surprised they fire a long term coach who HAS A WINNING RECORD presently. 26-23 and change. There are times for everything, but not sure I would let him go DURING the season.
- Speaking of hockey, I guess we have yet another year where the Caps look like the team to beat. ONE of these years that will pan out.
- The Wizards lost a tough game at home against the Cavs last night. But, it went to OT, and really didn’t give any indication that they aren’t playing at a higher level lately. Need to defend home court still, but they have time still, and they didn’t lay DOWN to the king. The Wizards will be irritating in the playoffs.
- I feel like the media is literally just rotating two stories about LeBron. Every two hours, they post either “James is pushing for a Kevin Love-Melo trade” or “Cavs GM says Love is not going anywhere.”
- The dude is still an offensive genius, and congrats on his new gig, but probably better Kyle IS moving coasts due to the final quarter play calling.
- Anyone feel like the Pelicans have been “trying” to get Okafor for quite a number of days?
- I never thought Steve Kerr would end up being mean guy to refs, but I guess I should have been warned with how he has input on a microphone about pretty much ANYTHING. Dude just likes to talk. Since he probably couldn’t talk much on those Bulls teams, he is just getting it ALL out now.
- The sad thing about the Steelers releasing Justin Gilbert is that they have been lacking secondary studs for YEARS. Then, a couple years ago, they TRY and trade for a top ten pick since they never get one, and he is a bust. Go figure.
- I guess the next step is that the Patriots will pick up the lad and he will excel in the Patriot Way.
- I am sure every single one of us expected Duke and Kentucky to have a combined total of TEN losses this year thus far.
- Florida bball is quietly going to become a DEMON in the tourney. They play everyone TOUGH.
- Shayne Graham just retired, meaning the masses might notice it about two years from now. Kickers…
- Have they FOUND that Brady jersey yet? It wouldn’t be such a weird story, but it already HAPPENED one time in previous years. This is almost a PATTERN.
- I totally support the Kobe H.S. gear being stolen though. I don’t care.
- When you read that Brady-jersey story, don’t TELL me for about 5 seconds, you thought they had summoned in the Texas baseball team to look for it. Maybe 3 seconds…lol…Rangers.
- I am excited for it, and the visuals were cool, but the trailer for Stranger Things upcoming season told me absolutely NOTHING.
- OK, NEXT weekend I will accomplish a bunch of around the house things…because that definitely didn’t happen this past one.
- I want to beat teams when they are at their best. So, I was sad about the UL kids breaking curfew before the UVA game. But, after the depressing Cuse loss Saturday, I didn’t mind as much as usual.
- Last year, I knew UVA had what it took to win it all. This year, I am much less sure. Nichols would have been a great addition to this squad, but they do have players stepping up. So, here is the deal. They actually look a lot like Cuse and Nova looked last year. They did OK. You never know. I will say UVA has a lot of veterans on the team who aren’t great, but CAN have a big game at any point. The luck is getting that player on the floor who will be hot. They are solid from guy 8 or 9 to 1. It will depend if they can get up to the #2 seed in my opinion, which they can. And Perrantes is a stud.
- LOTS of turbulence on this flight. If there are grammatical errors, it might be as much missing the whole computer keyboard as much as it could be a mistake.
- A bunch of Flyers go to Russia here and there to play some hockey. This year, Putin says HE might play. I am from outside Philly, so I am allowed to say this, but just not sure about having a bunch of guys who lived in Philly for a long period of time going out and playing a hitting game with angry world leaders.
- I think on the way back from Cali Thursday, I will spend some time and line up the contenders and pretenders in college hoops.
- Very cool that Tom Brady wants to give the MVP truck to James White, but isn’t that like me buying someone a drink at a bar? Drop in bucket for him I assume.
- Matty Ice was about as classy as someone could be after that train wreck.
- Kind of sad my Monday recaps of actual NFL action are done. MMQB is awesome and was really well written on Monday about the collapse/ comeback.
- I read a random reader’s input about Terrell Davis HOF bid. I agree with this to a point. Guy goes “so now that Davis is in the HOF, guess we should start looking at guys like Priest Holmes?” Yes, I know there is the different of Super Bowl rings, but we have to be very careful where we take this slippery slope of a few good years with TD and Warner.
- Wahlberg is diehard Pats. Some might question his kid not feeling good and why he left. I buy what he is selling.
- Trump left his own party? Now that is something. Can’t imagine a line of 10 cars with flags on them being successfully discreet in escaping.
- Berman is done on Sundays. Sad stuff.
- I will only touch on a few things from the Super Bowl since it is a couple days old. Just know that I never gave up on my boy. Did I throw that $10 on them to win when they were down at halftime? No, it is just something my wife heard me say. But, I already had a parlay going on the Pats minus the points and the over, so that would be double dipping technically.
- Just can’t wrap my head around the thought process of making another Baywatch. If they TRY and make it quality, it will bomb.
- We don’t want refs deciding games, but those few holds on Atlanta were for the most part cut and dry.
- I won’t go down as a fan in any sense, but that Lady Gaga sure puts on a show.
- Bon Jovi did that high wire thing in the 80’s though, Lady Gaga.
- Melissa McCarthy commercial was awesome, but my vote was still all over the JT-Walken one.
- I liked the Rick Astley commercial too.
- So, Scarlett’s new movie just basically has her running around in a tight body suit? That works.
- I don’t feel like doing the Split breakdown. It sucked. Have fun in wasting money.
- The yearbook commercial was good. I found it funnier thinking about the people next to them in the yearbook who remembered teasing them in class.
- 18 points. The next time someone is complaining about championship games being blowouts, say that number. Total margin between college bball, NBA, World Series, CFP Championship, and Super Bowl.
- As far as the game itself, you have read it all over the last two days. I won’t rehash. Let’s just say this. A lot of things have to happen for that comeback to occur. I am tired of talking about whether it was a collapse or comeback. Here is the bottom line. A FEW wrong decisions, penalties, and mistakes left a couple of very small openings. But the WAY Brady took advantage of those small openings was magical and can’t be denied. It was a comeback under optimal/ doable circumstances.
- I am in Cali at a conference for a couple days with casino meetings and working remotely. I probably will post a cast tomorrow.
- 25 years since Wayne’s World was one? I guess this is my old moment of the day. Punch in the gut.
- That The Detour show might be funny, but I might lose it if they play the commercial for it one more time with the kid singing the grade school song talking about being weird.
- So, when Nielsen released the ratings of the Super Bowl, when did they calculate it? Got a feeling a good amount of people turned off in that third quarter.
- Another thing about the comeback. I DID briefly turn off the third quarter of the Bills-Oilers game way back when. I caught the fourth quarter. I learned my lesson. There was no way I will ever chance learning it again. It causes some irritation moments with my wife when I won’t give up on a team, but can’t let THAT happen again, right?
- So, the Washington Mystics are forming the woman version of the Warriors if you hadn’t noticed. Kristi Toliver joins the other stars. Sorry, but I guess this means there is ONE women’s team I might be able to watch in a game from start to finish.
- I believe Romo is going somewhere else. I just can’t see the Cowboys having him on the bench when they can bank with him right now. I think Denver is being stubborn, but see Houston as an end point that makes a lot of sense also.
- NOTE: This airplane cast was done at 10am on Monday. I work all day, so it will not be posted until 5pm. Stories that are happening right now while I am on the plane and while doing my work thing today will go into TOMORROW’S cast. Just clarifying in case you can’t believe I missed something in my writing…
- That’s it for today. I need to go do a work PPT before we land. Hope you enjoyed or are at least more informed. Will I blog tomorrow? That is a CLOWN question, bro. Onward and upward.
