And here we go…Rio.
Just quick one before the weekend…
- Pele will not be able to attend the opening ceremonies, although it seems obvious something was planned tentatively. Get healthy, Pele. We will miss you there. Damn, you were the man. I read his short biography about 50 times when I was a kid.
- The Cards gave Fitzgerald and Palmer one year extensions. If you are looking for a team primed to win now but with the tiniest of windows for doing that, look no further.
- Bennett gets booted from Seahawks practice. I am pretty sure that won’t affect his standing on the team. Marshall and Revis scuffle in Jets camp, and pretty sure of the same. I have a feeling that Marshall and Revis were more for show though.
- I knew a lot of things about the Olympics, but I was unaware of the Refugee Team they created for this one. Pretty cool stuff.
- Uncanny. The Royals are STILL six games under .500.
- Some were surprised Tennessee got a first place vote in the preseason Coaches Poll. I am not. Said it all last year, and will say it again. That squad had quietly reloaded and I would NOT want to face them any week this season. Not sure if it is a #1 overall good, but they are a dark horse pick for the CFP.
- Alex Smith has made a career in being ordinary. They will be good this year again, but Nick Foles backing him up at least gives him something to look over his shoulder at.
- We live in a culture where goofy guys John Clayton and Paul Finebaum know the most about football. They are just crazy looking.
- Westbrook might be acting a little. Sure. But, he also made $9 million more by staying in OKC. Smart business move whether he “loves” OKC or not.
- The opening weekend in college football might be the best…ever.
- When Olympics officials mention “MacGyvering” some things in preparation for events, that is NOT a good thing. Even though MacGyver was the man. LOVED that show.
- Of course, it also is serious business when they need bolt cutters to get IN the stadium.
- Opening ceremonies, Missy and Katie meeting in the 200, each of them destroying the field in the rest of their events, Phelps, Bolt, the women’s eight in rowing, the women’s gymnastics team, the Refugee Team, Kerri Walsh Jennings in beach volleyball, Devon Allen in the 100 hurdles…just a couple things to keep an eye out for. With basketball, our women and men will win, but watch out for the France starting five and the Spanish team overall on the guys side.
- That’s it for today. Will I blog tomorrow? That is a CLOWN question, bro. Peace.
