Catch of the Day.

HOOK:

Look how nice this is going to work out for college football (just kidding mostly).  Here is what looks like will happen to me and possible problems with this scenario.  Georgia Tech takes out FSU, TCU and Baylor take care of business, Wisconsin beats first time starting QB vs. Ohio State, and we have a tidy four one loss teams left besides FSU which will be out of the picture with any loss.  Perfect.  Bama, Oregon, TCU, and Baylor.  My very slight problem with this?  Two teams from same middle of the road conference, but it does clean up a lot of other issues.  So, will it go down this way?  Probably not perfectly.  My gut tells me the Georgia Tech upset could happen, either Baylor or TCU trip, and therefore leave us a big mess for the fourth spot.  That’s why they play the games though, and in this rare scenario, the Big 12 actually makes out by not having a title game presently and therefore giving a team a late loss.

LINE:

Tom Coughlin on his future: “This thing is not about me. I’m not interested in discussing my circumstance. I’m worried about my team instead.”

Actually, I need to put up two for today.

“It is what it is. Whatever hasn’t happened hasn’t happened.”

—New England coach Bill Belichick, in what might be the Belichickian quote of the decade, on the fact that, before Sunday, Aaron Rodgers had never started a game versus the Patriots.

SINKER:

Steve Spurrier revived a subpar SEC team in South Carolina years ago and made them a contender every single year and more of a hotbed for recruiting.  This past season his team lost six times, a record for any Spurrier coached school.  He came out today and said he has 2-3 years left in the tank but that he will return to the school in 2015.  My question is this.  If I am a top recruit next year deciding between Bama, Oregon, and South Carolina, why wouldn’t I go to a school where I am assuming the coach is there my full four years?  Plus, I will just miss the Ball Coach in general in college football.
