“Road.”

We are a majority of the way through a great day in college basketball (like there are bad days).  Let’s run through the top teams:

Kentucky:  Every road conference game is tougher with whatever deficient team is on the other side.  They crushed Bama today.  That being said, it is a shame that the road games for Kentucky in the SEC involve the even weaker teams.  Man, I wish they had to go TO Arkansas-that would be fun.  Here is the rub.  Kentucky’s defense has been there the whole time.  It is scarier that they are coming together more on offense now.  Makes me think you almost had to catch them early.  The only interesting part of their schedule I see is the back to back with Florida and LSU.  Donovan will still have something planned.  As long as it isn’t THIS:

Virginia:  Once again, just get by the road conference games.  BC is playing like a pesky team trying to hide they lost to USC at home.  They gave UVA a run early, before a 10 point run by UVA balanced any equilibrium problems in the world.  As a UVA grad and basketball junkie, I wasn’t sold early in the season.  I am now.  They play a totally different TYPE of defense than Kentucky, but the pack line WORKS.  AND, Bennett now has better athletes to operate the scheme than in past years.  The bench players are proving better than advertised, so let the rest of the country beware.  We will be unblemished until the Duke showdown in Charlottesville.

Gonzaga:  Ok.  A road conference win is still a good win, but let’s just all keep in mind what conference they are in.  Solid squad who still might do what they usually do-wilt when the real competition hits them in the tourney.

Duke:  We can all settle down on coaching BRILLIANCE of Coach K as it was in the scouting report of Louisville, but I don’t remember Duke ever pulling a Boeheim zone for more than one play.  That being said, three point shots is what buried Duke in the two losses, and if you watched the game…you know Louisville’s shooting was horrible.  If they can’t score, they can’t use their press, and if they can’t press, they can get beat by a solid team by a large amount like today.  Props, Duke.  Nice road win.

Villanova:  They are playing PENN right now as we speak.  Pretty sure they will end up winning.  As you know, I think their squad is solid, but not sold on them having Final Four chances.  Their last games?  Butler, Seton Hall, DePaul, and Xavier.  The best team of that group is Seton Hall…and they lost.

Louisville:  You were not on the road.

LINE:

“Tomorrow.”

I think both games end up being competitive, and I think both Wilson and Brady will do something special near the end to clinch the victory.  Pats over Colts-34-21.  Seahawks over Packers-24-16.

LINE 2:  The best line was NO line.  Classy for Greg Monroe for not to say anything when asked about their success and not throwing Josh Smith under the bus.

Hey, Greg Anthony, were you waiting for Friday happy hour to die down before cruising home?  Five freaking forty five PM on a Friday you get busted in a Doubletree on a solicitation sting?  That is starting EARLY in the evening on some prostitutes.  I am sad.  LOVED your basketball analysis.

SINKER 3: I am waiting to see Larry Sanders on one of Lindsey’s shows…Intervention.  I wish he would do something stupid according to the law while he is doing this stuff.  My rant squad is damn boring lately.
