Catch of the Day.
HOOK:
“94.”
All four NBA series done Game 2 are now 2-0. First of all, don’t panic about the playoffs. The better team advancing will give us better later rounds. Let’s get rid of the teams who aren’t contenders. Now, as far as future excitement in THESE series, don’t get your hopes up. It is really an amazing stat since you would think the home team is holding serve. Teams going up 2-0 in an NBA 7 game series win 94% of the time. Let’s hope at least the Spurs wake up and make a series out of theirs.
LINE:
“Connor.”
“He’s as good as I’ve seen in the last 30 years, the best player to come into the league in the last 30 years, the best to come along since [Mario] Lemieux and [Sidney] Crosby.” The Great One on Connor McDavid, and I think we should pretty much believe Wayne and remember the name for years to come.
SINKER:
“Eight.”
Absent. Somewhere else. Checked OUT. There is a great article in ESPN Mag last issue about how Rondo is different. He is a loner, but extremely good at anything calculating from grade school. You apparently can’t beat him at Connect 4 or Spades. ANYWAY, that is all great, but lock and load when your team needs you. Him being a troublemaker with coaches is one thing. Him not ever developing a jump shot is another thing. Him doing things such as calling his own plays regularly because he is smarter and not being able to walk up the court with the ball in a playoff game in 8 seconds is utterly ridiculous. You are losing yourself millions on your next deal, bro. AND respect from basketball junkies everywhere.
MISCELLANEOUS (one sentence per hook style):
-I try to mix it up. The Billy Joel theme is one of my favorites by him…and about fishing.
-Denver gets voted the toughest schedule arguably for 2015, and glad that trip to Heinz isn’t helping out things.
-The Blackhawks went up on the favored Predators, and we still have room on my self-created Blackhawk bandwagon if you want.
-Whether meant that way or not, why would the Trailblazers TRY to piss off Marc Gasol?
-I see Lou Williams won the (what I consider) annual Williams vs. Crawford award, CRAZY to think we are less than THREE years removed from James Harden, now an MVP candidate, winning the Sixth Man Award.
-I wish the Vikings or A.P. would just do something, one way or the other…I can’t take this.
-Spurs East won the COY, and well deserved from a squad I think gets beat by the Wizards in the second round.
-THANK you, Oregon coach, for telling us Chip Kelly is NOT crazy…better now.
-Joe Haden says they didn’t know Josh Gordon couldn’t drink…and we all believe him.
-Winston now says the crabs were given to him….and we all believe him.
-Some people say the Mets can continue their present way…and we all believe them.
-LeBron says he had no idea about the Riley jab…and we all believe him.
-Russell Wilson loves baseball, will stick with football, and he would be a fool leaving a franchise that is young, talented, already winning, in a city like that.
-Kevin Ollie says he won’t leave, and considering all of the ramping up Calhoun did, I would think that is just logical, bro.
-Oh, and thanks for remembering to retire 9 years later, Bernie as you must have missed the memo.
-I have never been on an all -inclusive trip, have no fear I will not max out the system, and am starting to get a little excited.
-That excitement is of course tempered by the fact that it is hard enough getting through my work day sitting at my desk, but a week with NO email contact…doesn’t exist in my world.
That is it. Gotta go. Hope you enjoyed or are at least more informed. Two more blogs before I take a week vacation from ranting. Peace.
