USA BASKETBALL

The USA basketball team beat a lowly New Zealand team today, which is not unexpected.  Anthony Davis is coming across as a true superstar going into the 2014 season, as he is playing like a madman during the World Cup.  That is also not unexpected.  The surprise has to be Kenneth Faried, who I admit to not really even thinking his membership was totally deserved.  But, he is being productive playing inside, and being quite efficient about the way he is going about it.  The US looks good, but they haven’t really played anyone yet.  It might not be until the final game, but Spain will be very difficult, and the USA will need this productivity and scoring from Faried going against the as expected productive front line of Ibaka, and Gasol times two.  Will the US win?  Most likely.  But just as Florida State better being eyeing up that Louisville game at their crib down the road, USA better be watching out for Spain in THEIR crib.  That is all for today.
