Catch of the Day. Starbury.
Wow, how do this many things pile up in one freaking day? Helter Skelter version.
- I don’t really care about what is going on with FIFA’s Blatter, but it sounds exciting.
- I KNEW too many days had gone without Justin Blackmon getting arrested. Rant Squad, bro. You are on. Well, I guess until you are not an athlete and go to jail for a long time.
- Unless you live in a bubble, you know who Kris Dunn is. Unless you don’t read the rankings weekly like what I consider normal people do, you know Providence is now a top ten team.
- Not saying they can’t win a game or two, but real SHAME that in a year their aging QB is staying injury free, the Cards lose for the season arguably their best playmaker. What a turnaround in life Tyrann made from his Honey Badger idiot days.
- The Saints need to draft well and make a couple moves. Because as nice as it is to watch Drew Brees step into all time records, like tossing for 60,000 yards, it would be a shame to see him do it without any winning chance. More processional…
- Charles Woodson will retire after this year. I am sure if we Googled “NFL classy leader best defensive back arguably consistent Heisman Trophy winning bada$%,” he better come up on the search.
- Check out the stats where Thompson, Love, and Irving all are healthy when James is doing his thing, and then we know we should probably watch the Christmas game between the Warriors and the Cavs.
- I see the Avs are starting to wake up/ having their win total be more equal to the talent on that roster.
- The NFL will back out of a new medical study and will let the NIH do it. Ummmm. Not good timing I assume with this Concussion movie coming out…
- The baseball Cards picked up pitcher Mike Leake and will pay 5 years and $80 million for him. I guess losing out on the Lackey/ Price sweepstakes makes you pay a little more for a 11-10/ 3.70 guy.
- Who would have THUNK that Stephon Marbury would be having postage stamps and museums made in his honor? Things didn’t pan out in the NBA for the super scoring PG, but 29/5/5/2 and three of the last four Chinese titles I guess gets you famous.
- Stephon, I still have your original $14.95 shoes. LOVE those things.
- For the record, I lost my fantasy football game and am out in both leagues. My opponent scored 228 points this week against me (I scored 111). That is like $1 million Draft Kings stuff right there.
- Finally, since I rode to and from my dentist listening to ESPN radio, I guess I have to talk briefly about the new Beckham developments. Baseball bats, homophobic remarks, etc. Wow. Here is the deal from my vantage point. A) It doesn’t matter WHAT was said, Beckham still mistreated the sport of football on national TV and tried to hurt another player obviously…in an age of concussion worries and all. B) They BOTH were wrong on many points, and it was like watching two clowns get made at each other at the circus. C) I think his ban should be upheld. D) The most important item. We need to reevaluate what is “legal” trash talking. If we are going old school rules, then using the F and B bad words during games is still legit. IF, we are to make light of athletes coming out and acknowledging that we are in a new day and age (which we should), then we must talk about what is legal and what isn’t. IF you call someone the B word, then does it change things if they are gay? Probably. I could argue that trash talking is SUPPOSED to rivet someone’s logical thinking and mess up their play, so everything is in play. But, we are in a new age I believe. Therefore, I don’t have the answers, and it won’t be resolved in this one game suspension case, but it should be reexamined regardless. My side of the fence is that saying derogatory sexist comments is wrong, but I don’t have the answer if that person may be gay, and I don’t have the answer for recognizing we are on a very slippery slope then and that most “productive” trash talking in a manly game will be taken out of play. How do we be sensitive but let the guys play and talk trash openly? Not sure. Just something to think about.
- That’s it for today. Will I blog tomorrow? That is a CLOWN question, bro. Peace.
