Catch of the Day. The Queen of Hearts.
Read it, don’t read it, I don’t care…just needed to get some things off my chest.
In no particular order of chronology or importance…
On the clock. Not an airplane cast. Early evening cast. Semi-speed version. Let’s turn and burn.

- Greetings and salutations, people. Thanks for coming aboard (the boat). Not in a rush, but prefer to get back to my Saturday night. I have very large plans of sitting on my couch and watching a movie or two. Let’s move.
- JJ. Minimal pops. Thursday and Friday were very, very long days.
- I had a whole list of notes from the Oklahoma-Clemson game, but basically can sum it up by saying they got their butts kicked. And Stoops might not like talking about the subject, but his record in big games is really starting to stick out like a sore thumb on his resume. Another thing I personally noticed was that on some plays, it appeared that Baker Mayfield was trying to do a little too much. Too much of the chip on shoulder thing going on. Scary that Clemson was down a couple of backups, lose Shaq Lawson, and still did what they did to the Sooners.
- I felt like the fake punt shifted momentum a lot, and kind of reminded me of Sean Payton doing an onsides kick to start the second half in the Super Bowl.
- Sure, I paid a little less attention to the Bama-Michigan State game as the night was moving along, but I sure picked the right game to NOT watch as much of. They got rolled, no pun intended. These were happy, drunk Michigan State fans BEFORE the onslaught. Well, Michigan State fans with their ONE Bama friend.
- I am typing this after the UVA-Notre Dame basketball game. If you watched that game, you would have seen what is typical UVA basketball. No open shots for the opponent, the two best players for UVA doing their thing (Gill and Brogdon), and a purely methodical breakdown of a pretty good opponent. I am the biggest fan of Anthony Gill in the land.
- OU-Iowa State is on now. I did a double take on one OU stat. They are 46.2% from three as a TEAM this year. That is crazy. And, of course, this guy is an absolute stud.
- I am rooting against OU since my Cavs are behind them in the rankings, but a #1-2 game Monday against KU actually sounds like fun too.
- KU beat a pretty darn good Baylor team pretty darn bad. They are experienced, talented, and should make the Final Four given the right type of bracket matchups.
- I am just counting the days until Tony Bennett goes back home, and I know it is a definitive possibility.
- That is one GOOD looking older guy.
- Give me about three weeks, people. My new website is going to be dop…..I mean awesome. You will come to the site not just to read my dribble.
- Not only does Jackson have a condition that relegates him to eating soft food only, but we found out this weekend he is a stickler on what KIND of soft food he eats. Our demon is picky.
- If you looked at the score of the Houston-FSU football game and figured Houston was a one time party, think again. Most of those guys are coming back, so big boys beware.
- When I break down the finalists for the Rant Squad (posted in last blog), I will have a great team, but the name doesn’t make sense anymore since I renamed this thing The Cast. Let’s keep it simple. The Castoffs.
- The Boykin story just gets funnier to me. So, he made curfew, waited for the check to be done, and then went BACK out to get kicked out of Pat O Brien’s and strike a police officer?
- The Boston farewell to Kobe was pretty awesome.
- Did his field goal percentage go UP after going 5-18?
- I admit to raising my eyebrow when checking the score of the Mavs game with Curry out. Able to beat them without Curry? I get that. Beat them by 23 points???? That is crazy.
- Have you read your Tiger Woods comeback in 2016 article today?
- All joking aside, of course I am rooting for it to happen. I am just exhausted from WAITING for it.
- In a couple hours, I turn temporarily into the biggest fan of the Rex Ryan revenge tour anyone has ever seen.
- I hope you saved your money well, Mario Williams. Now that the Bills are about to cut you, I believe your days of being overpaid while teams wait for your potential to come to fruition are about done.
- When I was out New Year’s Eve, I noticed some chicks in fur vests and coats. You are telling me that of all things making a fashion comeback, it is FUR???? When are my cargo pants making it back?
- I celebrated NYE at Pub on Pearl. Used to be my second home back in the day, and still love the place.
- Little did we know that the Michigan shellacking of Florida would be indicative to the rest of the bowl games that day in margin of victory. It also showed us what we already knew…that Florida’s offense is atrocious.
- I guess when Joey Bosa got kicked out of the bowl game vs. Notre Dame, he was just making sure Ohio State knew what it was like to play without him for games, as he is off to the NFL.
- I repeat for the 1000th Tennessee football is going to be SCARY next year.
- Why is the best hockey game of the year, the Winter Classic, held during the same time of the big bowl games for college football? It gets lost in my shuffle.
- And for the 100th time, WHY is the college football playoff on NEW YEAR’S EVE?????? Don’t like it one bit. Thanks to my friends for sacrificing a little time to watch the second game.
- Christian Hackenberg made a huge gamble committing to Penn State during all of their turmoil years ago. The kid was the top ranked QB in the land. I wish him luck in the NFL, but really wish he would have stuck around for one more year. I feel like he ALMOST was good in college, but not quite there.
- I can’t believe that Iginla is about to score his 600th goal, and would be so cool if he did it against his former team.
- I really thought Xavier would also lose to Butler after it got smoked by 29 against Nova.
- Chuck Pagano is a fantastic guy, and will be let go from the Colts. Shame, as he is easy to pull for, but he really needed to win a couple more games with the talent he has, healthy Luck or not.
- I have spent a lot of money I feel like in the last month or two, but knowing most of the wedding and honeymoon costs are done is kind of a good feeling. Even some day trips are accounted for.
- Just when we wanted to stop talking about how good the SEC is, Bama lays waste to MSU, and Ole Miss destroys a decent Oklahoma State team.
- If you were curious about Christian’s response to losing the Heisman, I think we just got it in the form of a ridiculous performance in the Rose Bowl against a great Iowa defense.
- Nice that Iowa fans boo the opposing team’s band at halftime…
- I feel like you are not supposed to be sober when viewing those weird Clash of the Clans commercials.
- I feel like the highlight reel for retiring ref Joey Crawford will be quite entertaining. He has been on the court during a lot of big games.
- The John Scott story is pretty cool and glad the movement succeeded.
- I think Duce Staley is a great guy, but not sure Eagles fans want a relatively newbie, non big name coach coming in to take over the wreckage Chip Kelly left.
- He would overtake Tomlin as the most bad ass present coach.
- Congrats to Wayne Rooney for being the 2nd highest scorer in Prem history. I assume that is a pretty select list.
- I played pretty well in poker last night, but still lost. I even gave my chips to the eventual winner and host. Here is the deal. I lost on an A-7 vs. an A-10, so that is forgettable. But the hand before I went down on my own medicine. I feel powerful when I get a queen of hearts. I even carry the card in my wallet. That being said, after a few cocktails, I need to remember that the queen is pretty powerful in blackjack, which my grandfather taught me. But, it is more down the line in poker, and I should not be calling high raises in that game with a queen/ seven. Idiotic.
- I didn’t even get new Ross pictures last night, WITH a photo album out on the counter. Ugghhh.
- That’s it. Hope you enjoyed or are at least more informed. Will I blog tomorrow? That is a CLOWN question, bro.
- I will either be really happy tomorrow writing or really grumpy, as mood will be dictated by my Steelers playoff prognosis.
