Catch of the Day. Unfinished Business, Peyton. Broncos win 27-19.
Read it, don’t read it, I don’t care…just needed to get some things off my chest.
In no particular order of chronology or importance…
On the clock. Not an airplane cast. Afternoon cast. Semi-speed version as I don’t feel like sitting here all afternoon while in UT. Let’s turn and burn.

- Greetings and salutations, people. Thanks for coming aboard (the boat). Quick one today as I am just catching up over the weekend on a break before the evening, more scuba certification tomorrow morning, and then transit to the exciting city of Salt Lake City to watch the big game before flying out before dawn on Monday.
- When I flew into Salt Lake City and looked out the windows, it made me think about that would be how the Denver Airport might look before they built the thing 1000 miles away from downtown.
- Let’s oddly lead off with NASCAR. Tony Stewart will miss the beginning of his racing season. He also pretty much guarantees he never wins the Daytona 500. Here is the deal. He will never admit it on a mic, but he will end up jealous of Jeff Gordon. Gordon had classy goodbyes at every track last year, and then capped it off by having a chance to win the title on his final race. Stewart is not headed that direction. His against the tide actions were much cooler when he was a kid.
- After today, ask Michigan if the Spartans are not title contenders and if Denzel Valentine isn’t the best player in the nation (don’t be mad, Buddy-more to come on you).
- First, UVA is quietly starting to become what it needs to for the postseason. And if you don’t want my boring banter on the Wahoos, just check out this dunk by Malcolm Brogdon. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=14726021
- Lindsey and I thought about going snowmobiling or 4 wheeling or ice skating during our free afternoon today, but kind of bunkered down in relaxation and realized we can do all those things in Colorado and will be doing one this next weekend.
- Props to my buddy, Cerk, for being the man who goes to Vegas twice in two weeks for two different bachelor parties, the latter being mine. That is BOLD.
- I didn’t post a picture of Vince in my last shout out section. So, here we go.
- Speaking of Vince, isn’t it AWESOME to read about Duke basketball being still on the bubble?
- Reading about Joe Montana and all of HIS aching problems is pretty depressing to the afterlife of NFL stars, no matter which position they played. And to hear it from one of the all time greats hits home even more.
- A part of me just wants these NBA guys to be normal and LEARN to shoot free throws, and a part of me hopes they change the rules. I lean towards changing the rules though. It messes up the flow of the game. I like the possession and additional free throw by any player as good possible brainstorm ideas.
- Advantage #105 of the Broncos being in the Super Bowl. Out instructor lives 5 hours away and is a Broncos super fan. We were supposed to be done by noon tomorrow, but betting that changes by at least an hour or two. Would LOVE that. Plan on checking out Park City for lunch tomorrow.
- We ate at the more pricey restaurant here at the hotel last night (we ended up going cheap with soup and salads). Aside from the untrained serving staff and other oddities in our experience, I got clam chowder and it was wretched. Listen, I LOVE clam chowder. Love it. But, I never even think about the clams being in there (I don’t eat them separately) because it tastes so good. This place put ALL clams in it, it wasn’t close to right color, and I went back to the room and had a turkey sandwich.
- Had a cheap lunch at Café Galleria in hopping Midway, UT today at lunch, and it was awesome. Going to the well talked about Mexican place tonight for dinner. I think that will just about sum up Midway, UT.
- ESPN’s FiveThirtyEight is some of the best stuff out there in writing and notable thoughts. LOVE the Oscar breakdown they did yesterday and especially the Best Actor synopsis.
- Can’t believe I talked to someone a week ago saying that “grunting wasn’t acting.” He was so incredible in it. Movie will lose, but he won’t.
- Pat Haden lead USC through a rough time, is stepping aside, and I think his 5.5 years probably felt more like 15.
- Second surgery on Blake Griffin? Not looking good. Would love to see them just step up and TRADE him. No more Kia commercials?
- Of course, his college team isn’t doing too bad. I admit to not knowing how long their four core players have literally started every game together in. AND, after reading through the impact of Hield’s stats, it will give you more respect for what they are doing. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/page/wooden160204/oklahoma-sooners-buddy-heild-deserves-wooden-award-now
- And, next Saturday, when I will NOT be in Utah, is OU-KU II 2016.
- You all know I despise Johnny Manziel. But, in a rush today, and really? Do I really need to even add anything at this point? I think Johnny is doing all of the bashing to himself that I could muster with words. Hardy har har.
- Before we went to bed last night, we found a movie on with the younger Franco brother and Vince Vaughn. Unfinished Business. I recommend it. I had never heard of it. A little of everything in it to be sure…
- Yes, Louisville was proactive. Yes, there is more penalties to come now we know. But, my heart cries for Damion Lee and Trey Lewis. Kids transferred after all of the stuff went down, have never been in a tourney, and transferred there TO do that. They are seniors and done after this year. Sad stuff.
- Traveling on Frontier for the first time in a while. Wow, they just keep getting worse and worse. I remembering LOVING them years ago. Check out this seat! My knees don’t have room. The tray table is about double the size of a deck of cards. Plastic seats. No cookies. All of that savings money BETTER be making the plane fly.
- Rudy/ Marty is on the distribution list, and sorry, buddy. This blog AGAIN will not have any prizes. Look for prizes once Chris and I release the brand new Fillerbuster site in a week or two.
- Vandy beat a very good A&M team the other night. I am not backing down, people. Vandy will now be lower ranked because of underachieving but will wreck your bracket in a couple weeks.
- OK. To backtrack a bit. IF they even make the tourney. Not looking good right now, but the A&M win helps.
- Wow, that article about how much John Elway COULD have made too me personally by surprise. Didn’t know that…or had forgotten it.
- Nah. It won’t be fun again this year with both Klay Thompson AND Steph Curry being in the 3 point contest.
- I love George Karl and think he is awesome coach. But, with all of these new firing rumors, I thought we all knew he had lost his team like…a year ago.
- Sad about Dave Mirra’s death. I remember watching you do your thing at the X Games, and can’t imagine what went down for that exit. Happy trails, Dave.
- I wouldn’t worry about the Spurs and the Ginobli injury. The rest of the NBA should at least enjoy the rest of the month he is out though. I don’t care if his stats just say 10/3/3.
- The thirsty/ water scene in White Men Can’t Jump is SOOOOO spot on and still relevant in today’s world.
- I don’t know how large those mic’s are personally, but I am surprised the Randall Cobb feedback/ injury was the first time we have heard of something like this.
- I didn’t see the game so can’t say so for sure, but not sure whether the Nova win at Providence showed us more about Nova or about Providence. I think both teams actually are pretenders to some degree.
- Couple pics before I go.
- View from the room:
- View from on TOP of the crater:
- Sure this is a LOVELY fountain during the summer:
- Hope the demon cat is treating Avery alright.
- That’s it. Hope you enjoyed or are at least more informed. Will I blog tomorrow? That is a CLOWN question, bro.
- Just a tagline. Probably won’t talk to you tomorrow as it is SUPER BOWL SUNDAY. Said it last time, and I will say it again. Broncos win 27-19. Peace (again). Go Peyton and friends.
