SETTING:

Heaven.  I am camped out on my couch watching about 4 football games and flipping to a tennis match between legendary sisters.  As Old Milwaukee once said, it doesn’t get any better than this.  I should be celebrating something that happened today, and I am.  I am doing one of my favorite things in life.  Writing this.  No theme yet, but there is a placeholder, and some good contenders even before I start writing this.  We will see where it takes us.  For now, I feel the need…the need for speed.

Let’s turn and burn.

EVERGREEN (topics that don’t fade away):

  • Tonight, Serena is decimating Venus Williams in a US Open match. The decisiveness doesn’t matter.  The winner doesn’t win the whole thing.  And probably not as many people will tune in as should.  What is important is what this sibling rivalry has brought to tennis.  They brought the first African-American #1 in the Open Era.  They brought an athletic factor that had never been in tennis before.  They brought women who were initially treated as a brief trend into two of the greatest players of our generation.  They brought arguably the greatest single player of all time.  And they did it with respect, sisterly love, doubles titles galore, and a dominance for a time that will never be questioned.  They CHANGED the game, and tennis fans, non-tennis fans, activists, sports writers, young kids wanting to play tennis, and everyone else touched by the sport THANK them for their 30 Grand Slam titles (that is just singles only, people) and the way they have carried themselves the entire time.  Shame it is dwindling into nothingness now due to age, but MAN did we enjoy it.  THANK you, Williams sisters.
    • Side note, as you know I am always looking how to put UVA in any conversation, there are TWO Hoos in Serena’s corner every match now, as her hitting partner won the NCAA title for UVA back in 2013. Oh, and the other one is her husband.
  • David West retired this week. Great career, and I won’t send him down the retirement trail on a derogatory note.  But, he chased titles.  We all know that.  His last two teams were the Spurs and Warriors.  He will go down as a solid player.  But, I really wished he would have stayed with the Pacers and win the whole thing that way…organically.  He signed for much less money with San Antonio, and then when that didn’t pan out, he signed with the Warriors.  I can’t totally respect that.    I like organic titles.  I like making it work somehow.  I DO respect that he was the master of an art we DON’T see in the NBA too often at all anymore…the 17 foot jumper.  He was a baller.  But attaching yourself to two teams always in the hunt late in your career?  It doesn’t fly with me.
  • JJ Watt makes me feel useless. Not that he is a monster.  Not that he is a successful football player.  Not that he is a good guy.  Not that he has used his fame to become useful.  But, he started a movement that changed people in Texas.  And THAT I respect.  His foundation broke some records this week as it went over $40 million in donations.  $40 freaking million.  For a good cause to save lives.  JJ, thanks for being one of the less talked about good guys that overrides a lot of the famous idiots out there.  You are the man, in a lot of respects.  If I ever rooted against the Steelers (never would happen), then I think I would root for Houston.
  • All Star. Four titles.  Euroleague winner.  Olympic champion.    Eurostep.  Sixth Man of the Year.  The list goes on and  on.  Manu Ginobli was an excellent figurehead for international basketball.  He retired this week, and if you don’t believe ME, then just Google some reaction around the league.  He broke the rules of height.  He broke the rules of athleticism.  He broke the rules of tweeners.  He was a champion through and through, and the Spurs would all tell you they probably wouldn’t have won much without him.  Oh, and all with the same team, David West.  Manu was simply…a BASKETBALL player.  And that is what I want to watch.
  • NFL predictions. I think I am pretty solid on my picks this year.  I just don’t have the bandwidth working 65 hours a week to sit here and give you a full breakdown of every division of each conference.  But, my final two I feel pretty good about.  Sorry if it sounds like a homer (Steelers fan) pick.  But, I promise that once Ben goes away, I will pick other teams.  I think the following factors dictate my decision to say the Steelers will beat the Saints in the Super Bowl this year.
    • Brees farewell (or close to) tour
    • Big Ben farewell (or close to) tour
    • Both defenses are solid
    • The Steelers have something that resembles a secondary
    • I love both offensive lines
    • The Saints have two great RB’s, and the Steelers have the best RB
    • Bell will be more motivated, whether for the right or feel good reasons, than ever
    • The Saints have sick depth on offense overall, as do the Steelers
    • Weapons, weapons, weapons
    • Coaching is solid on both sides
    • Man, wouldn’t that be a fun Super Bowl
    • The Falcons might get home field advantage, but we know where that gets them
    • The Pats are close to a rebuild and everyone knows it
  • The classic clash ended a couple of innings early (and actually hit the over, mind you), but I LOVE pitching duels. LOVE them.  I had the pleasure of coming home from work earlier this week and the Phils and Nationals were on main TV.  Scherzer vs. Nola.  And I got my wish.  Confused batters.  A couple of nice defensive plays.  Pitching artistry.  No scoring.  It was glorious.  You can like the home runs, stolen bases, bases loaded jams, high scoring, and all of that stuff.  I will take a two hour matchup of nothing happening ANY day of the week.

WEEK-FISH (current topics of interest in sports):

  • Some of you people probably can’t recite the preseason top 25 by heart. That is OK.  I don’t understand you people as much, but I get it.    Bandwidth.  True college football love.  Yada yada yada and lobster bisque.  But, IF you just want to read the cliff notes in this weekend’s novel, I say you watch two games tomorrow.  Michigan-Notre Dame, and Auburn-Washington.  Why?  Because no expert would be surprised if any of those teams made the playoff.  They are all that good.  Michigan finally has a star QB to go along with their vicious and experienced defense.  Notre Dame is the necessary evil that makes college football better when they are good.  And they are.  Auburn is SO close to beating Bama, and if you read about Mr. Stidham, you will become a fan.  Washington is the team that has the rarely seen EXPERIENCED GOOD QB coming back, and was close last year.  These are two matchups that are must see TV.
  • Oh, and FAU and OU will just be plain fun. If Lindsey was in town, we were going to that game.  Instead, we are doing Bedlam.
  • Halep out. Nadal still advancing.  Heat indexes.  Kyrgios starting shit with umpires.  New York City.  NOT playing in a time zone that we have to wake up early or stay up late to watch.  No dress code to Google.  Hate tennis?  Try the US Open.  Last Grand Slam of the year, folks.  Put all of your tennis hate in a closet for two weeks, and watch a match or two.  Tennis is an athletic chess match, and you should appreciate it.  Think my love of football and basketball means I can’t back up my talk.  Shoot me an email.  I will meet you on the court.  After my serve blitzes by you a few times or my forehand hits you in the forehead, you will either pick up a racket or read my tennis hooks with more attention.  I was pretty damn good.  I love tennis.  I only hate tennis because it made me stop swimming and playing basketball for a bit.  The US Open is the tourney to watch if you are on the fence.
  • Trump praised Tiger for not falling for the media and their stupid questions. You are not as dumb as you look (lie), Donald.  You should stay in Tiger’s good graces, whether you played golf with him or not.
  • Yelich hit a cycle for the Brewers because I still think the cycle is one of the coolest things in a sports outing that you can have.
  • The Kaep case is going officially to trial. You all know that I think Kaep (by the way, that is the way I spell it because it sounds out the same, is one syllable, and I have no reason why ESPN takes out the “e”) has a case here and got totally screwed.  I can’t wait for this thing to develop, and I promise to not promise I won’t talk about it moving forward.
  • When I came home Thursday night and there was football on the TV, I got mini-chills.
  • I don’t find it odd that Eric Decker retired. A wife people Google, a solid career on sub-par athleticism and height, and nothing left to prove.  What I AM surprised about is WHEN he decided to retire.  So, you are telling me that Tom Brady might have 1-2 years left and you wouldn’t ride that out a little more?  I would have clung on for dear life and see how it panned out, and THEN retired.
  • I noticed that as soon as Tom Brady got asked a couple expected questions on his trainer being on the team plane, he walked off. Must be nice to be the legend of your generation with a bunch of titles and be able to do what you want.  Those questions weren’t disrespectful, Tom.  They were news.
  • JT Daniels was named the starting QB at USC. If you don’t know about this kid, read some material.  Kid is a dynamo on the field, and a respectful, intelligent kid off it.  I am not a USC fan.  I am a JT Daniels fan.
  • Odell Beckham got a big contract this week. I don’t question the amount, as you might as well take advantage of Eli’s last couple of years in style, but $65 million guaranteed for a WR with injury problems?  I agree that the Giants needed to keep that talent.  But, I wonder about the slippery slope of contracts in the NFL suddenly.  The Steelers didn’t pay Bell because they didn’t want to.  They didn’t pay him because of risk.
  • Of course, Aaron McDonald just got $87 million in guaranteed money today, so what do I know (but other side of the ball so different argument)?
  • Most people know that Hawaii won the LLWS this year. But do most people know that the TOTAL amount of runs they allowed the entire tourney was THREE?  That is amazing.
  • Teddy Bridgewater is a class act who knows that injuries have affected his career trajectory. I know some people might not believe his buy-in, but if I am him, I am ecstatic to sit the bench for a year or two behind one of the greatest of all time in New Orleans before realizing my potential.  NOT window dressing.  Smart move for both teams AND players.
  • I believe Zach Smith should stay away from Twitter remarks.
  • I believe Urban Meyer should take all of his thoughts in a week, group them on a list, gather some media, and THEN tell us the deal. This broken up releases of things like “I did not lie” are BS we are not buying right now.
  • Can we not make a big deal of the MLB trade deadline next year? Please?  Yanks get McCutchen.  Phils get Bautista.  Indians get Donaldson.  Dodgers get Madson.  No deadline next year.  Just tell us when it is REALLY done.  Those thing all happened in the last four days.
  • I don’t go out as much these days, but, if I did, I would dream of being in downtown Denver when Pacman Jones was doing something stupid.
  • I am VERY impressed that the Rockets finally got rid of Ryan Anderson. What really confuses me is who he went to.  Not some overpaying team ready to win.    He went to the rebuilding Suns.  If I am a Suns fan, I am presently pissed at taking on that contract.
  • The year of Ryan Fitzpatrick (again). The Bucs say that it is not necessary a given they name Jameis Winston will be the starter when he comes back from suspension.  I feel like Ryan Fitzpatrick is the present day version of Dave Krieg.
  • (some people Googling or scratching their heads)
  • Tony Romo must be slowly be getting paid back from above for having the potential he had but never winning anything. He advanced in the Web.com Tour Tourney this weekend when someone signed an incorrect score card.
  • Dez Bryant says he wants to be right and sign with a team later in the season. Translation:  “I am NOT doing all of this preseason crap and building relationships and will just see who is winning and THEN latch on.”
  • Not a name that will be on Wheel of Fortune anytime soon, by Mr. Shildt got “interim” removed from his title with the Cardinals, given his stellar record since July 15th. The Cards oddly always make a late season run, and he definitely has been instrumental in that this year.
  • Jerry Jones wants an 18 game season because…never mind. Translation:  “Jerry Jones wants an 18 game season because his team doesn’t do well in the playoffs and he needs two more regular season games to make money.”
  • If you haven’t seen the haircut photo of manager Servais and player Diaz, Google it. Diaz got his 50th save and had to pay a bet.  Funny stuff.  Never mind (during brief editing).  I included it below.
  • Not sure which is more horrible. A)  A fan puts his Knicks fanhood on E-Bay.  B)  Someone actually BUYS that offer. C)  For $3,450.
  • Here we go. Federal bill for sports betting is introduced.  THAT would eliminate all of this in between state crap.
  • So, let me get this straight. Player leaves school.  Player accuses new coach at ex-school of cheating.  Player goes on rant with racial slurs of old team.  Player gets kicked off of present team.  That is very, very funny.  I need a flowchart.
  • Michigan State barely got by tonight against a 20 plus underdog, Utah State.  They are a team on the short list of playoff teams.  Dodged that one.
  • I sometimes wonder about him only having one title (oddly, against my team), but I say give Aaron Rodgers whatever he wants, Packers.
  • I tried for a minute or two to come up with one liner jokes on Mychal Kendricks and the insider trading, but nothing of note came to mind.
  • I have no idea why it made me chuckle out loud about Tom Herman being at the strip club with Zach Smith, but it happened.
  • I DO have an idea of why I chuckled so loud when JR Smith got officially charged with throwing the fan’s phone, because I know he is an idiot and get sad occasionally that he even has a ring.
  • The list of notable players cut today in the NFL is a great quiz and update in sports. Just to help you out:
• P Shane Lechler, Texans
• QB Christian Hackenberg, Eagles
• QB Joe Callahan, Eagles
• WR Braxton Miller, Texans
• TE Alec Bloom, Cardinals
• OL David Quessenberry, Texans
• DE Kony Ealy, Cowboys
• RB Joe Williams, 49ers
• QB Brogan Roback, Browns
• S T.J. Green, Colts
• TE Gavin Escobar, Dolphins
• WR Michael Floyd, Saints

  • I am all over Floyd, Miller, and Hackenberg if I am other teams.
  • What a cop out. Saban named BOTH QB’s as playing QB’s in Game 1.  That guy has so many problems we would all like to have.
  • I am just a kind of Bryce Harper fan (use his closing tagline in my blog (clowns)), but not a Nationals fan (Phillies fan). But, I am PISSED if I am a fan of that team.  They traded away Gio Gonzalez today.  So, basically, they are a non-title winning version of either of the Marlins title winning fire sale teams.
  • Weekly reminder to keep reading Deadspin’s Why Your Team Sucks column.   And your team is up one of these days, or has been.  Reality.  Abrasiveness.  Comedy.
  • I am watching the CSU-CU game presently, and things are going…pretty much exactly like everyone in this region, both sides, thought it would go.

THIS AND THAT (pop culture, Fillerbuster thoughts, and whatever else I feel like talking about):

  • A 1962 Ferrari GTO just was sold at an auction for $48 million, and, if I had the money, I think I would pay that amount for that particular car.
  • I had to swim in a circle the other day at the rec center. I don’t have many rules in life, but I believe that swimming in a circle during swim team in high school was hopefully the last time I had to do it.  Wait it out, people.  We are adults and now split the lane.
  • Alice in Chains and Slash come to the Fillmore Auditorium in September, and although I don’t live a block away anymore, I think I need to go to both. I am sure Slash will remember me.  Not only is Sweet Child my favorite side of all time aside from Here I Go Again, but I met him after a concert, couldn’t speak words, handed him a napkin with “rocket queen” written on it, and he signed it.  Luckily, my wife coordinated the star struck conversation.
  • Besides being a sudden noise obviously, why do cats get so alarmed at coughs and sneezes?
  • I believe that I would want Larry Fitzgerald to speak at my funeral also.
  • I believe I would also not want Trump at my funeral.
  • I believe that Lindsey would be surprised how many times I don’t eat a full dinner when she is away. I snack and then get hungry an hour later.
  • 4/14/2019:   GOT is back.  Dragons.
  • Olde Towne Tavern in Littleton is a place that I not only worked, but also one of my favorite places on this earth. We have Uber now, and downtown Littleton is a magical place.  And the owners of the bar are two of my favorite people ever.  Go there.
  • I have no idea what I meant by this blog idea on my list: big Al mobster kid green yellow Middleton
  • True Detective 3 looks better than 2, but NOTHING will ever compare with True Detective in the first season, the true definition of magic in a bottle.
  • Sharp Objects finale had a couple of missed closures (maybe on purpose), but was clever, surprising, and well done overall. You should watch it, especially since no second season is in the works.
  • I have a friend named Rob/Ralph/Peter that did mock drafts for fantasy in his own time over the weekend. Special guy.  Read that again.  He did practice mock drafts for fantasy on the weekend.
  • The real character in the movie Hidden Figures turned 100 years old, and you should see that movie if you haven’t thus far. Great story.
  • My first fantasy draft went fine. I somehow have an overload of Packers, drafted Big Ben early, drafted the Steelers defense early, and somehow landed late picks of a magical 2013-ish draft of A.P., Sproles, and Larry Fitzgerald.  Just like March Madness, I know the most of everyone, overthink it, and get beat by the girl picking favorite mascots.  I usually don’t make the playoffs in fantasy, because I lose focus…and draft players from 2010.
  • I never have Steelers on my team as I never want to be that guy rooting for a RB play on 3rd and 9 in MY team’s game, but drafting a QB and defense is ok because both of them doing well is ok for the benefit of my team overall. I make my own rules anyway in life.
  • I seriously can’t tell if my cats are playing a game, or if the younger cat is in a constant hellish life all the time.
  • I seriously don’t know why I hate cats but my cats like me so much.
  • Really, really sad about the Jacksonville shooting, and a shame that losing in a GAME could make someone go home and grab their gun.
  • North Carolina. I was a political science MAJOR, but gerrymandering is still in the news?
  • I golf tomorrow with a co-worker and my mentor, Ross. Can’t wait for 751am tomorrow.  I am good at most sports in life but love golf because it is the only sport that A) I am not good at and B) I have no interest in getting good at.
  • I have searched long and wide for the old school Ghostbusters slot machine that my wife and I love. Easier because I sell to casinos.  They are releasing a new Ghostbusters 4D game and I am excited.
  • Some things I understand and some things I don’t. HOW did they JUST discover a new barrier reef off the coast of South Carolina?
  • I love dad jokes. There was a news story the other day about a dolphin harassing people.  Apparently, he did it on porpoise.  I just laughed out loud writing that.
  • I still haven’t used a microwave since…like June. That is amazing.
  • The Taste of Colorado is this weekend, or, as it seems to be by the music lineup, “Miss The 90’s?”   Suger Ray.  Smashmouth.  The Destroyers.  Leann Rimes.
  • Very confusing time for me now, as I am now acclimated with baseball betting. And now football is starting.
  • Met an ex-colleague at Chophouse in Denver this week. Burger was good.  It was no Old Major burger though, my new #1.
  • My wife landed tickets finally. Going to the Steelers-Broncos game ON my birthday in November.
  • Lindsey is out of the country and asked me how my day was going this week. The local time for me was 630am.
  • Louis CK, after masturbating in front of various women, got on stage again, with no mention of his wrongdoings.  HE is the professional and knows what he is doing, but I would have OWNED those incidents and brought that into my routine if I was him.
  • I would like to include my colleague’s recap of our fantasy draft as an almost closer. It is obviously after some beers, he is a Pats fan through and through, and this is some funny stuff.
  • Welcome everyone, to the 2018-19 Four Winds Interactive Fantasy League. A very successful draft is now in the books. I wanted to take this opportunity to welcome everyone to the league, by providing the Commissioner feedback on the overall Draft Results. I am a few drinks deep at this point, so forgive my grammatical errors.
  • Lets kick it off with the #1 overall pick, Kaminski…. the second most loyal Browns fan in the league… We all saw the Leveon pick coming with #1 overall, but from a LOYAL BROWNS FAN??? C’MON. (2nd most loyal fan in this league after seeing Ben’s draft picks and his true dedication to his home town team.) Casey may even be more of a Browns fan than you are based on his faith in Browns player. A TRUE Brown’s Fan would have taken Josh Gordan #1 no question…. Now what we didn’t see following the Leveon pick, was 2 more RB’s to follow. Is Rob holding onto RB’s in hopes of trading up for a solid WR? Allen Robinson is a bust since he came into the league, so he is no help… Chris Hogan will get his, but will see far less action after week 4 when Jules returns. Fingers crossed Dez actually has an offer from the Browns… otherwise Look for Kaminski to make some moves on the Receiver side very quickly. The fate of your season rests in the hands of Leveon and Kirk Cousins as of now.
  • Onto ole Pine Riders…. Where to start…. One of the most Senior Sales Engineers at FWI not knowing he was on auto draft…. SMH. Todd was a good pick at #2. Mike Evans is a bust and his QB is as well. He might catch something if he put some gloves on. Now onto your auto draft mistake- LeSean McCoy is the most dangerous pick up of the draft in my opinion. Police Investigation ongoing…. the wrong side of 30…. battling injuries last year….. Now the upside- he could very easily be the leading RB in the league this year due to the amount of carries he see’s (assuming he stays healthy) and passing looks he gets… We will see what comes of this pick. TB12 will do you NO WRONG, so all set on the QB front. lack of depth on Levi’s bench is going to hurt him, look for Levi to hit the Waiver Wire early.
  • Levi’s Hotmail- Best Team name in the league and that’s about all he has going for him. You said you don’t really like your team….. and neither do I. AB is the man and very well could be the leagues fantasy points leader this year… that alone could carry you to the playoffs assuming he has 40-50 point games like he did last year. I dont mind Travis Kelce at #2 either, he is going to see aton of looks and scores a shit ton as well. Top 5 RedZone target in the league….. Now for the rest of your team… Stefon Diggs has yet to prove himself in my book… Good catch last year, what else did you do? Hardly a top 20 receiver in the league. Ajayi is running in a Phili offense- very similar to the Pats in how they share the ball between RB’s, he is not going to put up RB1 points. If Percy comes out of retirement, I will trade you for Sammy. Stafford throws up a shit ton of passes- hit or miss with him. Put your faith in AB and Kelce, those are the guys to carry your team.
  • Team Chaudhry….. How Fucking Original…. DJ is my boy and took me to the gloryland two years ago….. however last year he was the reason for my demise. I have played devils advocate enough thus far, I think he stays healthy and has a top 3 RB type of year for you. AJ Green has been proved to be hit or miss.. When he plays well, he is a top receiver, unfortunately he is relying on Andy Dalton which has proven to be unsuccessful (most of the time). Cam and Jordan Howard are great pickups… I hate your D Thomas pick up. Still, your depth on the bench and solid starting roster positions you to be a solid team this year. Look for the most lame team name in the league to make a playoff run.
  • Team “I am too good to draft at the office” Lowell. Again, how uncreative can you be? Can Andrew Luck be the guy again this year? The question everyone is asking…. Not really, but some people are asking it. Alvin Kamara had a killer season last year… He is also going to see an extremely heavy workload the first 4 weeks without Ingram. Great pick here assuming he stays healthy and/or Ingram doesn’t go off when he returns from suspension and assume the #1 spot. Melvin Gordon is also a good pick up and will produce good RB1 points. Can Josh Gordon stay off the pipe this year? The pots these days are more dank than ever and I truly question whether Josh can stay clear of the bubblegum Kush. If he can, he will be the guy in Cleveland. Look for Robert Woods to see a similar workload to last year- Sammy is gone, but Bradin Cooks is there to be the top guy next to Todd G. He may not see the action your hoping for.. Good thing you have Marshawn, Kelvin Benjamin and James White on the bench who all are great secondary options. Good draft overall.
  • … I love the guy and I love his loyalty to his Steelers. Ben went entirely too early and you know it. He would have been available for another 3 rounds. Zeke is going to be your guy this year. No more Dak, back to good old fashion running style football for the Cowboys. Great Pick. I am not big on the Devante Adams pick at number 2, but I get it. I love Larry Fitzgerald, I just truly question what his workload will be this year and how his body will handle the hits. 36 years old tomorrow…. Believe it or not, I love your bench. Ty Montegomery is going to get his this year. Mahammad Sanu is the #2 guy in ATL and OFTEN #1 with how heavily guarded Julio is. Darren Sproles is going to be involved in the Philli running game and could easily see an increased workload if Ajayi or Corey Clement gets hurt. AP- I would love nothing more than for this guy to come back this year and rush for 1,000 yards… I just don’t know it will happen..
  • Dan Suereth brought his laptop, 3 tablets and a draft booklet to Van Gough tonight…. This guy has been drafting longer than a few of you have been alive. The guy created a fucking draft app for christ sake. It does not get more OG than this guy in terms of fantasy. Now that that’s said, your fantasy team— led by the 100 whatever million dollar quarterback. How is anyone worth that much money? Aaron is the man, I get it…. but he has won ONE Super Bowl…. I don’t need to bring up the guy who has 5 of em and has never seen a contract anything like that. Needless to say, he will be top 2 QB this year and worth your early pick. DeAndre will be top 5 WR again this year, same thing with Keenan Allen. All set on the WR front (Even Tyreek Hill in the Flex)…. Unfortunately, the RB game is going to be a struggle which is only fair when you have one of the best QB/WR set up in the league. Maybe offloading Cooper Kupp and another player for a top RB is in the cards for Dan? Jaguars D…… I hope Jalen Ramsey gets hit by a bus, there I said it. Bless Em
  • Casey has been off the fantasy train for a few years now, so I am going to take it easy on him. But let me just get it out of the way…. JARVIS LANDY, DUKE JOHNSON, DAVID NJOKU…. Have you been hanging out with Ben and Rob on the side? Are you really buying into this Hard Knocks shit? Do you understand you are putting your faith in a bunch of guys who have gone 4 and 48 over the last 3 seasons… Good Luck pal. OBJ should be huge for you, assuming he isn’t getting triple teamed every game after that contract he just signed.  We will see what Derek Henry does now they have Dion as a primary option at RB… Should start the season with a pretty even split, but as of now- preseason shows Dion is the RB1 in TENNESSEE. I would love to see Freeman come out of his slump this year. He was a top 2 receiver there for a minute, not sure what happened to him over the last few seasons… Doug Martin is really the only guy I am super familiar with on your bench…Hit the Wire bud, you are going to need it.
  • Da Coach: Some folks in here will disagree, but McCaffery at #10 is too early. Especially considering you passed on Julio. I get you would have missed out on Christian, but you missed out on Julio. Julio is like peanut butter and jelly. mashed potatoes and gravy. Salt and pepper. Julio is the BEES KNEES. tried and true. Remember this as the season plays out. You did however steal Lamar Miller. He fell to #40…. Does the league know something I don’t? Great pick up here. Michael Thomas is looking to have another break out year (again Mark Ingram on suspension 4 games) he is bound to see an increased workload. I am not on the JUJU train. Leveon catches the ball more than most recievers in the league…. When they arent looking at their running back to run or catch the ball, they are obviously looking for AB… JUJU is a final option, not a WR1. Everyone is big on Deshaun this year and it will be his proving year. He has yet to prove anything, so rolling the dice here, but should pay off in your favor… I see you swapping out Jared Goff for Watson sooner than later. Not a bad draft for a guy who passed on Julio at #10.
  • Ben, I don’t know you incredibly well, so I will tread lightly until we warm up to each other. Fortunately, I have fairly positive things to say about your draft. You ended up with Julio so I cant give you as hard of a time as I did Martin, but it still needs to be addressed. Kareem went OFF a few games last year. Very similar to Todd Gurley only a little less consistent. Julio should have gone here, but to each his own with the RB/WR preference. Carson Wentz…. assuming his knee doesn’t blow out on him again, he should be a top 5 QB this year. BUT we are forgetting about the Foles Factor. Remember? The backup who just walked in and won a game against the best team in the league on thee biggest stage?? Carson’s leash is not as long as it once was in Philli, knowing they have Superbowl MVP Nick Foles sitting on the bench! A few mistakes by Carson could make that QB situation very interesting. Curious to see what happens with the QB situation in Philli this year. Fortunately for you, you also have Philli’s top receiver, and really top Offensive player…. The Carson/Ertz combo is going to be a deadly one assuming Carson stays the starter… Could I throw out any more hints out at maybe picking up Nick F to ride your pine? Emmanual Sanders aint doing shit. The man is 5 foot 3 and has no one to throw him the ball. Gosh my disliking of the Broncos truly shines in these reviews. Decent draft overall.
  • Tony also took the route of the running back. Passing on Julio for Leonard Fornette. I like Fornette so much more knowing that Jax is playing without Marquise Lee this season. A huge WR target out of the picture… they only have the running game to turn to. But like Martin and Ben, beware of the Ghost of Julio who you also passed on. He gonna haunt all ya fuckin asses this year. Drew Brees has proven to be as reliable as they come so no concerns on the QB side of things. You dropped the ball picking up Dalvin Cook without L Murray. That’s an even split as far as carries go and the RB1 job could go either way. Dougy Baldwin is my guy and is going to put up huge points for you. Putting your faith in Chris Carson who has yet to really prove himself in regular season could be a risky. Look at the WR’s on Tony’s bench (Alshon Jeffrey, Randall Cobb, Robby Anderson, Desean Jackson, John Brown) Anyone need a WR? Tony is going to need some help on the RB side of things.
  • That’s all for now. Good Luck to everyone! Go Patriots.
  • I love that guy. Greg P. is great.
  • Finally, I don’t talk work here, but let’s just say…(thinking because there are two themes for blog in play right now)…nah, let’s do the other one…let’s just say that it was a good day at work.
    • So, first of all, we need to show the pic from arguably one of the best rap songs of all time.
    • And that get me thinking. What ARE the best rap songs of all time?  Spit balling here, but I would say the following for me:
      • Regulate-Warren G
      • Nuthing But a G Thang-Dr. Dre
      • California Love-Dr. Dre/Tupac
      • Roxanne, Roxanne-UTFO
      • Paul Revere-Beastie Boys
      • Life Goes On-Tupac
      • Numb/Encore-Jay-Z/Linkin Park
      • Straight Outta Compton-NWA
      • Natural Born Killaz-Dre/Ice Cube
      • Jam On It-Newcleus
      • And a couple by Eminem
      • Missing a bunch, but I did that in about 25 seconds…

TWEET OF THE WEEK:

Tie between two:

THE BEST WORKOUT SONG EVER FOR THIS WEEK:

INCUMBENT:  Medicated-Sevendust  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLKp7bG–os

NEWCOMER:  Infra-red-Three Days Grace  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwGS4Yn5qLo

THE SONG I AM ABOUT TO DOWNLOAD TO SHUFFLE (yes, I still have one of those) AND HAVE LISTENED TO ABOUT 30 TIMES WRITING THIS BLOG:  Feed The Wolf-Breaking Benjamin  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTuNRW8Zens

About the last song, I am just now discovering Breaking Benjamin, my new perfect band.  Combine the beautiful harmonies, with the angry guy in the background, the simple yet effective guitar, the fantastic lyrics, and the pure anger, and I want to run through a wall.  Therefore, I picture a pretty good workout with the song.  And that is somehow it beat out all of those fantastic rap songs I just mentioned.  Plus, I like wolves a lot.

Feed the freaking wolf…

And just in case you live in a vacuum, check THIS out…24 seconds of awesomeness and hilarity.  I didn’t actually know much about KSI before I found this, but people found him because of this song and vice versa.  I am now a fan of both.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3iV20fZZiY
