Midday thoughts of Day 1 at The Masters…

Charley used to look a little like…
All Masters, all the time for the next few days most likely, people. Deal with it, or give yourself a break from my blog until Monday.
-Google has released information that the most Googled entities this morning were “charley hoffman” and “russell henley.”
-Mike Weir has WON this thing in 2003. He is not even 45 years old. I will assume he had cocktails before his 10 over round today.
-Ernie Els is at -3 after 10. If you don’t like The Big Easy, then there is something wrong with YOU, not him.
-Brooks Koepka was a trendy pick before the tourney, and he is solid approaching the turn.
-My personal team looks strong overall (see previous blog) except for the amateur hacking up Augusta, and Paul Casey is going to make me look like a genius before this is all said and done.
-45 year old Angel Cabrera is just moseying along, at -2 after 10, hitting long balls, and just chilling out the way he does.
-We love the old guys showing up to play and showing their knowledge of the course, and posting a -1 is no slouch effort by Tom Watson.
-Speaking of, there is a Mark O’Meara siting in the red!!!!! Watch out! Hurry and look before it goes away!
-You don’t need to be at the top of the leaderboard after day 1. Bubba and Rory are just biding their time hanging out at -1 (Rory still to finish up).
-I am just refreshing a leaderboard, but Camilo Villegas must have had an ugly last two holes. Yikes.
-I don’t think Jim Furyk will ever age, and considering he has looked 50 since he was 30, we are glad he is catching up to actual age.
-Tiger is 1 over after 5, and that is fine. What is concerning is how erratic he already is, posting two bogeys and a birdie in that short span. You just need pars on this course and then attack the par 5’s.
-I teased myself almost by perhaps taking Jimenez on my team, and after his 6 over, I am glad I didn’t bite.
-Glad Phil Mickelson is on the leaderboard so I make sure I have someone I dislike up there.
-Welcome BACK, Justin Rose! At least for a day.
-I am going to go back to it, waiting for my guys Rickie Fowler and Jason Day to make their moves.
-By the way, if one of my guys starts playing well, they are in the same group, so the other will feed off it.
MISCELLANEOUS:
The three game suspension for Bell for the Steelers is not monstrous, but for a team needing a fast start next season, it doesn’t help things.
MASS EXODUS. Wow. I figured ONE of the kids would stick around to be a star. Top SEVEN UK scorers exit stage left, and probably most will litter the first round, if not all. Wow.
Back to refreshing. Where if a guy takes a little longer on a hole, you get nervous and are blind to it. Talk to you tomorrow. Peace.
