New one will be “good,” but you really can’t top the chemistry of first one…lightning in a bottle.
Read it, don’t read it, I don’t care…just needed to get some things off my chest.
In no particular order of chronology or importance…
On the clock. Airplane rant. No internet. Morning rant. Semi-speed version. Let’s turn and burn.

- Greetings and salutations, people. Thanks for coming aboard (the boat). Short flight from Dallas to Denver, and I am a little tired. Let’s say what I need to say and get out. There will plenty of couch time this weekend watching golf where I can get a full rant in.
- If I were to list some of my favorite hobbies, watching a golf Major would be right on the top tier, folks. Right up there with reading mock drafts and preseason rankings.
- Right up there with reading mock drafts and preseason rankings, folks.
- Stop. I do LOTS of outdoor stuff, but just before and after important sporting events I wish I was at. Doing Paintball and Gay Pride this weekend and THEN sitting on the couch for 4 hours each day.
- I love Pride. Get to see all of Lindsey’s friends partying and it has SOOOO much energy.
- WITH that time this weekend, I plan on FINALLY getting to that Game of Thrones hottest chicks list. Still working on criteria. Know that two will be “how much higher should you be because of nudity and sex?” and “how much lower should you be since not sure if I feel comfortable ranking you yet because of age?”
- Oh, why did we ever leave that freaking cave…
- I might also vent a lot more at where we are at in the series, what lies ahead, how pissed off I am about the last episode, etc., but I am sure all of these things will come up during my rankings. Giving the tapers a little more time to watch the final episode.
- More surprised about the 80 by Tiger or the 81 by Fowler? Definitely Tiger. Here is the deal. You know I am a believer in El Tigre to the very end. And getting on the Masters leaderboard and a clean bill of health gave me a little hope. Then he goes out and brings in an 80. Here is my problem. NOT saying that Chambers Bay is easy. FAR from it. But, the first day was MADE for players who can hit it far and straight. That is what Tiger USED to be. If he can’t use THAT round as a springboard, WHEN will he? When there are trees all over the place and he needs shaped shots? Ugghhh.
- Hey, Tiger. Colin Montgomerie shot a freaking 69. READ that sentence before heading to Perkins tomorrow night.
- Guess the extra practice time now that you and Lindsey have split up isn’t helping.
- Fowler I think actually NEEDS the shaping course.
- Dustin Johnson’s game fits this course PERFECTLY and I will be surprised if he drops out of the top 10 at ALL during the weekend. Banger who can gain a stroke or two per round on length, decent short game, and very consistent.
- I think Jason Day will make a legitimate move also on Saturday. Nice course for his game.
- I have not forgotten about the question of the day. It is not dead. Just a very busy guy, and when I am not busy, I am EXTREMELY busy NOT being busy. Flowchart THAT. Just made it up.
- This small dude next to me on the plane BETTER be surrendering some of the armrest in 20 minutes, dammit.
- Kind of a downer that I have to go back to work when I land. I always say I like sales because you know when you can golf, work from home, etc. Well, presently, I need to go back to the office. No one remembers anything about past months or deals, every month you start at zero, and the end of Q2 is imminent.
- More of a downer that with me on a one stop flight with no internet, my email is going to be MADNESS.
- I needed some Chapstick and remembered to buy it (just something you keep forgetting about consciously as you run out every few MONTHS) at the airport. They had regular singles and three packs of my cherry kind. I settled on regular. When the HELL am I ever needing to stockpile THREE sticks of Chapstick? That is like a YEAR of Chapstick.
- I wrote that and then realized that this is coming from the guy who just “ran out” of it and could have benefited from backups that don’t go bad. Enough about Chapstick…
- The NBA Finals had the best ratings since Jordan’s last title. Yes, watching youngsters take down the best player in the world and a bunch of scrubs was must watch TV.
- That was actually not sarcastic. I was serious, although few and far between.
- Tim Duncan and that $20 million. Dude is such a GOOD guy.
- Doesn’t stop me from wishing my life was one where I would forgive someone stealing $20 millions from me.
- Scary I was most likely to succeed. Sorry I became a frat boy idiot, Cumberland Regional.
- I fell down those steps trying to hang on to an empty keg. My proudest moment of Sigma Pi was Potlatch, which I asked Hunter to burn when he showed me the video. Given what happened to me in general, I wish I still had that video. It would be worth SO much money.
- I won’t have a son, but if I did knowing what it did to me, I would STILL tell him to join one. I would just tell him to study during the day instead of sleeping on The Lawn.
- I see that Kris Bryant hit a grand slam, and I guess we will just have to get used to this stuff. You might have some company in a year, Mr. Trout and Mr. Harper.
- Got on the plane with Bryce Harper’s injury status unknown. Guess I will have to go back to the shepherd sign-off if he goes to the bench.
- The LeBron James-Dave Blatt thing is SO weird. You have a classy best player in the world who you would think would be classy about this. Not exactly getting the coach’s back and obviously we know who goes when push comes to shove. LeBron, you are consistent, but you are quietly getting more second place finishes than first place ones. You will get a little bitter and NO one they bring in will make you happy. Not a good selling point outside of coaching you and winning. You can’t take back your resistance on the sidelines in the playoffs, but you can be forthright right about now one way or the other. We all know Dwyane Wade is using his crap for leverage (joining Cavs). He is not leaving Miami. LeBron will continue to do a one year deal SO he can push around a coach. Blatt basically is like Theon from Game of Thrones and just needs to submit to get paid.
- It may or not be true while traveling this week that I had a huge portion of mac and cheese at lunch with bacon on it, and then a seafood mac and cheese at dinner. Believe what you need to.
- So, Sandoval said he was “checking” his phone but proactively did an Instagram while losing in a ballgame? He got paid, has rings, and now just wants to play around on social media I guess. That being said, a phone in the bathroom is literally an excuse to just do anything you want on the internet.
- What Torii Hunter is doing for the young Twins right now is amazing, and it doesn’t even matter whether his temper tantrum was JUST meant to be a teaching moment to them about fire for the game or not.
- We have lost one of the best nicknames in sports, folks. Shawn Marion has retired finally. The Matrix. He refined his position, won a title, will forever make Dave Blatt wonder what would have happened IF he played him in The Finals, and will always be remembered for one of the weirdest free throws in history.
- I still want those Morpheus sunglasses. I love liking something SO outdated.
- Let me get this straight. Cole Hamels is one of THE most targeted trade targets for winning MLB teams right now. And SOMEONE plays a PRANK on him about being traded and empties his locker? If we know it is going to happen, isn’t that just “practicing” really for when it really DOES happen? I could flow chart it for you if you would like.
- Well, I guess Mr. Duncan is coming back and we can hang up any retirement talk. He texted Steve Kerr “It’s that easy, huh?” He will NOT be going quietly into the night.
- De la Hoya will NOT be coming out of retirement to fight Floyd Mayweather. Will SOMEONE tell me WHEN the hell THIS conversation started? What did I miss? Didn’t think in the LEAST that was an option, and pretty sure I would know it would be an ass whipping IF it happened.
- The Hawks finally bought out Danny Ferry. I think everything got overblown about the incident as I think he is not that way, but probably better he start with a DIFFERENT organization and cut these ties anyway.
- I didn’t open it yet, but I THINK ESPN had an article on the Steelers being the AFC favorite. Slow down, folks. Personally, and I know my team, here is the deal. Not feeling like we replaced all of the old guys on defense with proven players. We don’t have the LB’s we used to have for quality. New defensive coordinator. Bell out a couple games. Aging TE. And toughest division with TWO other teams that can go a long way in the playoffs with pesky Cleveland being Cleveland. Glad someone thinks we have the goods, and I think we do if health is good and the pieces fall into place right. Not ready to say we are an official contender yet though.
- All that being said, kind of nice after years of being down to be able to say “we are kind of back, aren’t we?”
- Of course the Deflategate football is up for auction. Why wouldn’t it be? Makes. Sense.
- Quality athletes you are pulling in down there, Les Miles. Four of his players have been suspended. They went through the pockets of an unconscious man’s pockets outside of a bar, and then punched the dude’s girlfriend.
- True Detective starts this week. I have read a couple reviews on it. As most of you know, I literally became OBSESSED with that show last year. Here is the deal of what I think. I am mildly excited, and I will watch (mainly because it will fill the Game of Thrones void that suddenly exists). And I am interested in seeing the two new guys take a crack at it. But, I am VERY cautious to say the least. Different director is one problem. The chemistry last season was lightning in a freaking bottle. Not sure you can recreate it. Think about this. The CASE was secondary last year as all we cared about the resolution of the characters. The odds of good actors doing a good job in a good plot are pretty good. The odds that the chemistry will be duplicated are VERY low.
- Besides slight laziness and aging, not sure how exactly I went from a Widespread Panic fan who NEVER missed any Colorado show to one who may or may not buy some tickets for next weekend, but it has happened. Still love them. Just love them a little more on my couch.
- Never mind. Why WOULDN’T I go to that scene?
- I added pictures on the editing as there seemed like fun pic opps.
- That’s it. Hope you enjoyed or are at least more informed. Will I blog tomorrow? That is a CLOWN question, bro.
