Secret Life of Echo…

Thoughts for the day…daily blog template being revised for 2017.

1. Glad Grayson Allen is suspended, so we don’t get tripped midway through writing this.
2. It is clear the dude wants to be the most hated Duke player of all time.  HOW he is doing it is less classy than even his predecessors though.  Former Duke crybabies simply got into the head of opponents by doing irritating things within the rules.  Breaking the rules and risking other players harm is just not classy.  Grayson can ball, but he is quickly becoming a non factor for the lottery and on his way of becoming perhaps a great college player…with a job in the NBA.
3. Hmmm.  Probably can sit him at least until January 10th and look really classy, right?  UL will be the next game after FSU, so you KNOW he will be back for that one.

5. So, George Karl tells us in a classy way earlier this year how Melo is a future HOF’er and then throws JR Smith and Melo under the bus in a book??  Non sequitur.  Yes, those two deserve it, but you either join MY club of staunch haters or go to the Dark Side.  There is a clear line in the sand.  Pick one side or the other, although I know coaching DeMarcus Cousins for a couple seasons might have  jacked up your head.
6. I think JR Smith should play with his broken thumb.  Maybe we would actually see him THINK about shot selection for a fraction of a second on the court.
7. In case you care, the over/ under on that Memphis/ W. Kentucky football game was EIGHTY.  And it went OVER.
8. I can say that the Michael Floyd police video was one of the more boring .217 videos I have seen in a while.  I wanted more.
9. But it came out today “he is learning from it.”  Yes.  Embrace the force with the Patriot Way and HIRE A FREAKING DRIVER WHEN YOU HAVE POPS.
10. The Denver Botanical Gardens at night in the winter was worth the trip.  Note to future goers.  You can take your own stuff, as long as it is not glass.  I am here for you all.  Pics will be posted over the weekend in a longer, fun blog.
11. UL beat UK and brought down the one and doners down to earth a little more.  Also, LOVED the ESPN article about IF Pitino wouldn’t have left Camelot for the Celtics.  Find it.  Good read.
12. UVA tried its best to putter away the game against Cal (again).  I am over playing those kids.  Take them off the schedule so I don’t get heart attacks.
13. Don’t know (nor care) enough about the whole MSU-gymnastics coach to comment.  You can read all about it and write your own blog.  I will most likely not read that blog.
14. Joe Thomas wants to spice up the Pro Bowl.  I like it.  Skills (non football) competitions.  Do it.  It needs SOMETHING.  Word to the wise, and not splitting the atom here, but when I was at UVA and we were #1 in football and #5 in basketball, I used to walk into Slaughter Gym (yes, that was its name) and watch some of the football players REIGN the three.  Not WR’s or RB’s.  I am talking LINEMEN shooting the rock beautifully.
15. Cooks got the back of Drew Brees and said he got snubbed.  Lots of people got snubbed, people.  Lots of people are gray area.  It is what it is, and maybe voters are tired of the Drew Brees machine have a losing record no matter how porous the defense is.
16. Great article on SI.com about how the Browns are NOT as bad as teams like the 70’s Bucs or the Lions from a couple years back.  I have had the feeling that Hue will win one when A) at home and B) against a losing record opponent.  That time is this weekend.  Book it.  They will beat the Chargers.
17. A couple of us checked our Frontier mileage this week.  All of us are travelers, and all of us were at ZERO.  Frontier, we all know you suck and we avoid flying with you like the plague, but do you have to add insult to injury and revoke the CHANCE we might use you again???
18. Bob Stoops said this is a different time and Mixon should have been suspended years ago.  Ummmm.  Not to go out on a limb, but 2014 was not THAT different of time and you had already seen the video years ago.  So, are you apologizing or spinning it with the whole different era thing?  Confused.  You are a hypocrite.
19. Hey, Mark Richt.  Why don’t you do something WITH the talent you have year after year and wait on criticizing RB’s for not playing in their bowl game before their big paydays?
20. I get why Fran McCaffery stormed off the court.  I watched the plays.  And he is right.  But, in the larger sense, he is leading a bunch of 18-22 year old young men who looked pretty confused about his actions.  He is the leader.  Shake hands and then complain righteously at the presser.
21. DeMarcus Cousins said him getting temporarily ejected was ridiculous, and maybe it was, but he needs to get through his skull that since we know he is an idiot and does idiotic things regularly, why WOULDN’T the refs initially think he purposely spit out his mouthpiece.  Natural reaction.
22. Did you read about how Bradley was on the plane after he got fired?  Talk about confusing the athletes.  It is one thing to fly in a plane, but an entire awkward flight with your fired coach must just suck.
23. The Rockets got taken down by the Spurs, yes.  But they sure still look like a contender by losing that close.  I still say live by the outside, die by the outside though.  They win a round or two and then are taken down.
24. Leaving my Droid Turbo Charger in a hotel room weeks ago sucks.  Charging like you non Droid Turbo people at slow speed is like watching paint dry.  Wonder if I can order that thing online…
25. Went to Tag Burger last night before the Gardens trip.  Mac and Cheese.  Ranked.  Burger.  Not ranked and just was really good.  I WILL come back for one of those adult milkshakes though.
26. Another day in our lives, and another North Carolina allegation of wrongdoing.  They find the most interesting ways to break the rules.
27. In the grass is green, the sky is blue segment, Cyborg might have done steroids.  Listen, either find another nickname or I am just going to ASSUME you take performance enhancing stuff.
28. I like the Giants tonight, but in a close one.  Maybe 20-17.
29. I might be in the minority, but not buying that Terrelle Pryor is a “flash in the pan.”  He might be a jackass, but dude has made the QB to WR transition about as seamlessly as you can ask anyone to.
30. I don’t want to hear about anyone’s fantasy championship this weekend.  I am very, very, very jealous.
31. The Mac Daddy Santa thing with Tiger Woods…is just disturbing.  Don’t Google it.
32. Listen, I love technology, but I really feel like we are about 5 years away from Terminator.  You are telling me we yell at robot voices every day, can have an Echo that controls everything, we have a talking phone, robotic vacuums, robot toys for the kids, and drones, and not ONE of those families with everything has those things chatting conspiracy plans when folks are not around?  Think of it like the robotic, evil version of Secret Life of Pets.
33. And that movie was good.  It wasn’t extraordinary, but good.  It is kind of like half of all Jim Carrey or Adam Sandler movies from ten years ago.  The funniest moments were all covered in the previews.
