Should we play zone?
HOOK:
Well, almost a day has gone by since my Cavs got ousted, and I can almost talk about it. Well, I will write about it. First of all, I keep going over that 5 minute span when the train went off the tracks. It was a very bold move for a shallow squad to go full court at that point in the game, and it worked. The Cavs played like a surprised team that was used to a team folding the way THEY wanted them to. The blur that occurred during that time we all have answers for. Timeouts, backing the ball back out, not taking advantage of 2 on 1’s, etc. Hindsight is 20/20. But, expecting a team to NOT pull out all the stops in the second half of an elimination game was the first mistake.
What we have left:
Nova: This is a team who sneaks into Final Fours when they don’t deserve it. They beat some good teams along the way too. Now that they are here, they have the guard play to win it all. That being said…
OU: Best player, best guards, experienced coach, and just an overall feeling that this might be their tournament to win.
UNC: We came into season knowing they had talent to win it all. They still do. They are athletic also. I only worry about a team like them who can’t shoot from the outside if they face a team that plays a really, really strong zone…
Cuse:…which is EXACTLY what these guys do. Play strong zone like it is their religion. Who is better team? UNC. But, the Orange have talent too. And crazy that either team’s head coach could retire on the mic if they win it all.
Picks to come later in week. Damn, this thing would be a whole lot more exciting if the Wahoos were still in it. When Syracuse takes the floor Saturday, I might be sick. Ugghhh.
LINE:
Free agent free safety Husain Abdullah has announced his intentions to retire from the NFL. He has had five concussions over the last few years, but is healthy overall. He is 30. Here is the deal. This kid is just another person in line of a pattern that we will be seeing more of and not even being surprised about. These are guys who have made their money and simply know that being able to climb stairs and not forget stuff is a little more important than playing late into their careers. We will still have football, but losing players here and there will become mainstream.
SINKER:
For the record, I don’t care what a headcase PG for the out of playoffs Kings thinks about the Mavs making the playoffs. Stay off the mic, Rondo.
THE RIVER:
66-7. Can’t lose three times to break record. Looking at their schedule, it looks like the Warriors are home free as they have a nice little home stand included. But, considering some of the weak teams they have lost to, nothing should be absolutely counted on. I see the game at Utah and the home game against Portland as possible stumbles. Then, they get the Spurs twice in the last four games to make it really exciting.
And, if you are curious, I want the Bulls to keep the record. Those guys would RUN the Warriors so let’s have the record books Warriors free on this.
That’s it. Will I blog tomorrow? That is a CLOWN question, bro. Peace.
