Thoughts for the day…

1. Greetings and salutations, people.  Thanks for coming aboard (the boat).  Probably my last chapter until Sunday night as I head to the mountains for the X Games tomorrow evening.  Tomorrow looks too busy to squeeze in a cast unless I write one on my way into the mountains (basically if enough interesting things happen where I don’t want it to be old news on Sunday).  Let’s move.
2. Me.  Aspen.  I assume my Instagram account will light up like a Christmas tree this weekend.  I love Aspen so much.
3. Three of the top 4 college bball teams went down last night.  All road games, so not the end of the road, but here is the quick breakdown.  Was everyone looking ahead?  No.  Well, Nova was.  Marquette is not a high quality team.  Actually, UK was too, as Tennessee is not high quality (but happy for Mr. Barnes in his new gig).  KU was not looking ahead.  West Virginia is 4-1 in their last 5 home games against them.  What should concern KU is they have NO interior scorer and that is not good at this time of year.  So?  Some luster taken off of Saturday’s big UK-KU (palindrome-racecar-yay) showdown, and now UVA takes on a very pissed off Nova team.  I would have rather had Nova win last night.  But, still two games featuring possible Final Four teams (all of them), so you should watch.
4. The Cavs turned down the Knicks in an offer for a Love-Melo swap.  That doesn’t even make sense as an offer on a lot of levels.  I can’t wait until the NEXT mood shift of GM LeBron so we can find out WHO they want now.
5. Melo can’t be paired with LeBron…that would mean he might WIN it.  We (well, I) can’t have that.  Ever.
6. Nadal…and Federer?  Venus for the moment?  I remember those days when the teenagers ruled tennis.  Nice to have a flashback to…well, flashback tennis.
7. Oh, and Serena of course…she ain’t done yet.
8. I think I am rooting for Nadal.  Can you imagine going into HIS tournament in France with a recent Grand Slam and us not trying to write him off?
9. I am writing extremely fast because I still have packing to do, so…this is not edited and might have grammatical errors.
10. I have “Aspen blog plan” written on my blog list.  Ummm.  Here is the plan.  No blog during Glenwood Springs and Aspen.  If I do, it means you should make fun of an early night in on vacation the night before.  That probably won’t happen.
11. Glenwood will be a night at the Iron Mountain Springs and then bars, Friday night is the DJ Bassnectar, and Saturday is Chainsmokers.  I am sure all of those nights will suck.  Oh, and crazy skiers, snowmobiling, snowboarding, Justice Snow burgers, and Square Grouper visits in the middle.
12. I was JUST about to say we have hit our quota on a mild flare up from Marcus Smart.  Done, and done.
13. Shame that Phillies kid had to retire, but just glad he is ok.  Horrible eye incident victim…
14. UCF football will have cabanas for sales for $22k a year.  12 people can fit, and parking and food are included.  The things are ON the field in the end zone.  So, it sounds great for one crazy party game, but then I am passing that to someone else for the other games so I can see more than half the game from higher up.
15. Who am I kidding?  IF I could have afforded that in college, I would have gamed that crap up with me and 11 people.
16. But…I couldn’t afford anything in college except Natural Light.
17. UK-UGA (NOT a palindrome).  Brent’s last game announcing.  Apparently NOT the Joe Mixon remarks.  Anyway, we have plenty of negative material on him, but here is the bottom, freaking line.  He is one of the greatest announcers of all time easily, and had some of the greatest calls of all time.
18. Butch Trucks died.  Sad.  Don’t know him?  You should.  Allman Brothers.  Early jam band that set the table for some greats…and then just kept GOING.  I have seen him, Derek, and Duane all perform, so I believe I got my fair share, and sad if you haven’t.  Derek and Duane Trucks are still…trucking…sorry…if you feel the need to catch a part of that brilliant musical family.
19. Still waiting to hear HOW Butch died.  I will excuse anything.  Plus 40 years touring and playing 3 hour concerts HAS to do a number on you.
20. Roger Goodell says he won’t be awkward if Tom Brady wins it all again.  Sure, buddy.  Nice, politically correct statement.  I can’t wait to see what the OTHER Pats are doing when you hand the trophy to Tom.  Background photobombs GALORE.
21. Listening to Bassnectar in the background to get ready for Friday, and although I will be oldest person in the concert by about 10 years, it JAMS and I am pumped for it.
22. I had a few jokes about Tiger switching from Nike to TaylorMade, but as I told them to myself in my head, I decided I was reaching on on my semantics…you are welcome.
23. (tell the one about the caddy named Taylor…NO don’t…move on, Fillerbuster-you are NOT funny)
24.  For the 15,000th time in this blog, if I made more than $1 mil a year, I would pay someone $50k a year minimum to someone to just be on call and drive me around when I went out.  Oscar.  You make $1 mil a year.  Nice DUI.
25. I feel like Steve Kerr has a lot to say these days.  Now, he says kids like Steph Curry more than Jordan back in the day.  NO!!!!!!!!!!!  You are wrong.  Is it because he has that damn cute daughter at pressers?  No.  We LIVED MJ.  MJ was better in fandom on every level.  Move on.
26. I am not on Facebook as I write this, but I see that Antonio Brown is doing more contractual FB “stuff.”  Onward and upward, Antonio.
27. As far as Tiger Woods, I hope he just finishes decently this weekend.  One thing I WILL note.  It is at Torrey Pines, the place he won that magical US Open against Rocco back in the day.
28. I was there on the final day that year about 50 feet from him as an aside.

30. I think this will be my 5th X Games.  2 summer, and 3 winter.  Put it on your list.
