The ACC.
HOOK:
“Dixon.”
Jamie Dixon is leaving Pittsburgh and heading to TCU. I am sure he has a lot of his own reasons, but here are two that I think ring true regardless. One, he got traction once at Pittsburgh and had a couple good runs. That momentum in recent recruiting classes has subsided a bit. He still wins 20 games a year but you just don’t feel like his recent teams have that bite the older ones did. Two, TCU is his alma mater and we all get this. A tough road to climb yes, but going somewhere where you chose years ago for reasons and even played ball for makes sense. TCU is 8-64 in conference games since entering the Big 12 with an average margin of loss at 15 points. Good luck, Jamie.
LINE:
“Six.”
Unless you live in a bubble, you know the ACC has SIX teams in the Sweet 16. What is crazier is none of them play each other, so that number could stay at six for the Elite 8. I wanted to advance this story by seeing if they really have that chance. Scary is looking at the games, they can win them all.
-Duke is playing easily the weakest of the #1 seeds.
-In MD-KU, we have the team on paper that was best preseason and the one that is now. MD can win.
-Miami is experienced and playing a team that we aren’t surprised when they choke.
-Teams probably need to zone up against the larger Zags, and look who they play. The zone masters…
-UNC is mostly glad UK didn’t make it through to match their athleticism.
-UVA is playing better and better and knows that MSU is no longer in their region. Their defense will really affect Iowa State’s usual flow.
SINKER:
“Sager.”
Sad to hear today about Craig Sager’s cancer no longer being in remission. Good luck, and we are all pulling for you to beat it again.
THE RIVER:
Still have the feeling this tourney is Buddy Hield vs. Malcolm Brogdon at the end, with two great stories building up to it with two classy guys.
That’s it for today. Will I blog tomorrow? That is a CLOWN question, bro. Peace.
