Thoughts for the day…

Greetings and salutations, people. Thanks for coming aboard (the boat). Let’s turn and burn.
My brief breakdown of the Cousins trade was in last night’s blog, but let’s just summarize today with this. Cousins got flown in by the owner and GM on the owner’s plane. Hield and Co. took commercial flights in. Definitely some paradigm differences…

Cousins got choked up in his goodbye to Sactown. You can say it is because he loves the city, but I personally believe he was thinking about the CBA $209 million extension he could have received next year. THAT plan is now screwed.
The Kings had to make a roster spot. They released Matt Barnes. Wow, they dumped two basket cases in a one day period. Nice cleanout.
All of the above is of course overlooking the obvious fact that it was a bad trade for the Kings, but that is neither here nor there.
I won’t run through all of the trade rumors, but let me just say this. The Celtics (for the fourth year in a row) HAVE to do something. They have trade pieces, draft picks, and peaking players. They play in the East. They fully control the Nets first round pick this year AND have it next year also. Make a move. Time is now.
By the way, HOW did you do that, Nets?? How did you trade away your future and STILL suck?
The Lakers can be faulted for making last minute executive moves before the trade deadline, and here is my summary. One. Magic knows nothing about being a GM, but he WILL get some texts through to stars. Two. Sure, Kobe handcuffed the Lakers a little, but I haven’t seen anything from the past regime to make me lobby to keep them. Three. Magic still has a day before the trade deadline is done. Four. He will bring in Pelinka as actual GM. Agent to GM path. Same thing the Warriors did. And, Eric Gordon, James Harden, and Trevor Ariza are just three of his clients. Hmmmm.
Today was a good day. I didn’t have to use my AK, AND I had free pizza. Once again, the ONLY thing better than pizza is FREE pizza.

If I am a high school recruit wanting to go to an east coast college, but wanting to be the focal point of an offense, I am heading to UVA. Wow, they are painful to watch on the offensive end. Another bad loss last night against Miami. Remember exactly 2.5 weeks ago when I was saying they just needed to be a #2 seed to make a run. Now, I am just glad they are in the tourney. At least I don’t have to pick two brackets this year.
A-Rod says there is zero chance at returning. I missed something. Who of us actually cared what he did? Was it you? Wasn’t me. (asking wife…) Wasn’t Lindsey. Who?
Free pizza almost always wins the theme war when mentioned, but last night we watched the new Planet Earth II first episode. Damn, that stuff is mesmerizing. And years later, the effects are beyond AMAZING. Get your tv recording on the clock. I learned all about ISLANDS this week. Lemurs, komodo dragons, crabs, chameleons (who can swim), and others. Monopolies on islands. It was incredible and had my full attention. But, the one that took the cake was the penguins. They own this island and have over a million penguins on this volcanic island WITH NO PREDATORS. Great life, except that every single day, one of the parents has to go into stormy seas to get the day’s food. They literally get 15 minutes of happiness a day.
